Because of your generosity, seven full-time special education classrooms—our Autistic Support and Life Skills Support programs— were able to come together for a joyful, inclusive celebration that promoted friendship, belonging, and the practice of essential life skills in a memorable way.\r\n\r\nThis event is so much more than a party. This year, our students and teachers work side by side to prepare a full holiday meal in our classrooms, cooking green beans, corn, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing, ham and cookies together. Staff was able to serve the students, making the experience feel extra special. We gathered with friends from all of our special education classes, welcomed our administration, and—and even got a special visitor from the North Pole. For our students, this day builds confidence, encourages connection, and creates lasting memories filled with laughter and pride.\r\n\r\nYour contribution directly brought joy to our students and reminded them that they are valued and supported by our community. They are showing more independence when writing out cards, and the cards have more sophisticated language. I took one of my small groups just yesterday to complete the very first request. It went so well! Another group of students helped me set up the cart and organize our items, and the pride on their faces when they were done is something I will never forget!
