While many families are familiar with using technology at home, the way we are using it at school is a little different. The Toniebox allows my students to independently listen to stories in a screen-free, hands-on way. This supports their listening comprehension, vocabulary growth, and ability to retell stories, all while giving them more ownership of their learning during literacy centers.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the magic of placing a Tonie character on top and hearing the story begin right away. They love choosing which story to listen to, and it has made our literacy time feel even more engaging and fun.\r\n\r\nI have already noticed a few students who are especially drawn to it. For example, one of my quieter students who often hesitates to participate in large-group discussions has really warmed to the Toniebox. Listening to stories at their own pace has given them the confidence to share more during class discussions. Another student who is still developing attention skills is able to stay focused and engaged much longer while listening to a Tonie character.\r\n\r\nOverall, the Toniebox has been a wonderful addition to our classroom, and I'm so grateful for the support that made it possible.","fullyFundedDate":1746786112133,"projectUrl":"project/tales-with-tonies-a-screen-free-storyti/9078638/","projectTitle":"Tales with Tonies: A Screen-Free Storytime for Kindergarten Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lancioni","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7766891_orig.png?crop=407,407,x8,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747235793537","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-lancioni"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_26376","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":178,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":32,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - K","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":24.8,"schoolId":26376,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Elizabeth Meyer School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Elizabeth Meyer School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/skokie-school-district-73-1-2/elizabeth-meyer-school/26376"}
