They transform. The shy student who barely speaks in class finds their voice through a guitar riff. The kid who struggles to connect with others discovers belonging in the spotlight. Technology is the bridge that makes those moments possible — and thanks to the generous support of our donors, that bridge just got a whole lot stronger.\r\n\r\nThis year, our Phoenix Phest Rock Band and ERCLC Drama's School of Rock received wireless guitar systems and professional-grade stage lighting that have completely changed how our students experience performance. The Xvive A58 Wireless Guitar Systems freed our rock band students from the tangle of cables that once kept them anchored to one spot on the stage. Now they move, groove, and perform the way real musicians do — with freedom and confidence. Onstage, you can see the difference immediately. Students who used to hunch over their instruments now own the space around them. They make eye contact with the audience, coordinate with their bandmates, and deliver performances that feel genuinely professional. For many of our more than 20 Rock Band students, simply being untethered unlocked a new level of artistic presence they didn't know they had.\r\n\r\nThe Betopper RGBW Moving Beam LED stage lights have been equally transformative for our 55 Drama students. What excites them most isn't just how the lights look — it's how much control they have over them. Students have taken ownership of designing light cues, experimenting with color and movement to match the mood of a scene, and learning DMX programming concepts that are used in professional theater and entertainment production. Two students, who had never considered a career in technical theater, spent every free period learning the lighting board and ended up designing the entire light show for our School of Rock production. The lights didn't just illuminate the stage — they lit up a future they hadn't imagined for themselves.\r\n\r\nWhat makes these students special is their creativity, resilience, and hunger to be seen and heard. Many are underserved students who rise to the occasion when given real ownership of their learning. Both Rock Band and Drama are student-driven programs — learners help run rehearsals, choose repertoire, and shape every production element while meeting high expectations in collaboration and performance. These are not passive classrooms. They are creative laboratories where students lead. With this technology in their hands, they are not just learning about music and theater — they are doing music and theater, at a level that prepares them for college, career, and life.","fullyFundedDate":1776097076216,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-the-stage-amplifying-student-v/10025352/","projectTitle":"Lighting the Stage, Amplifying Student Voices","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carreras","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2113568_orig.jpg?crop=2305,2305,x226,y10&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1585248055364","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/yasoda-erclc"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73569","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":317,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.7,"schoolId":73569,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/tulare-county-office-of-education/eleanor-roosevelt-community-learning-cs/73569"}
