These hands-on materials have been utilized every day and have made a positive impact on my students' ability to stay focused!\r\n\r\nThey especially enjoy the sensory mat and the pop-its. The sensory mat is wonderful as a calming tool when a child is feeling overwhelmed or sad. They love to run their fingers over the mat making designs and watching them fade.\r\n\r\nThey also enjoy the pop-its when we are having carpet time. This can be a time the is more challenging for some students to stay focused. A pop-it gives their hands something to do other than touch another student or get up and under the room. While their hands play with the pop-it they are able to focus on the lesson or discussion we are having. My students absolutely love using these resources! The ones we are getting the most use out of are the math link cubes and the segmenting trays.\r\n\r\nWe use the math link cubes all the time for counting, composing, and decomposing numbers. My students love to take a number of cubes and then break them apart to find ways to compose that number. We have created several games that utilize these cubes.\r\n\r\nMy students also love the sound segmenting trays. I give them a set of cards with a picture and they use the trays to build the word.
