One of the first things we did was create clear, colorful labels for areas like our lunch cart and hydration station, which has helped students build independence in their daily routines. We've also been able to laminate visuals and anchor charts, making them durable and accessible for repeated use during lessons. These small changes have made a big difference in keeping our classroom organized and student-friendly.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and curious about how we would use them. They especially enjoyed being part of the process—helping design labels, choosing visuals, and participating in creating crafts like Valentine's goodie bags. That sense of ownership made the experience more meaningful, and they were proud to see their contributions displayed and used every day.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using these materials to support current and future projects. Right now, we're working on expanding our use of visual supports and anchor charts to reinforce key lessons, and students will help create and update these as we learn new concepts. We're also planning more seasonal and creative projects that allow students to apply their skills in fun, collaborative ways. These resources will continue to play an important role in making our classroom engaging, organized, and student-centered.","fullyFundedDate":1769177816530,"projectUrl":"project/mid-year-restock-new-year-new-supplies/9975688/","projectTitle":"Mid-year Restock: New Year, New Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alcantara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9120829_orig.jpg?crop=1290,1290,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734571747802","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9120829"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90670","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":536,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":90,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"17.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":81.4,"schoolId":90670,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about El Gabilan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"El Gabilan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/salinas-city-elementary-school-district/el-gabilan-elementary-school/90670"}
