We have put these markers and erasers to good use over the past few months, and they have facilitated a shift I've truly loved watching: I've seen my students grow up.\r\n\r\nAs a 9th-grade teacher, this is the time of year when I witness students mature significantly. The materials you helped secure allowed my students to step into the role of the mathematicians they will be throughout the rest of their high school careers.\r\n\r\nIn these photos, you can see these young learners collaborating and making sense of mathematics together. They are trying out ideas, teaching each other, taking risks, and discussing math at a much deeper level than is possible in a traditional, teacher-centered classroom.
