Teaching students with disabilities can be challenging but also rewarding. My team and I start each day with a positive outlook and a willingness to meet our students where they are. Because our students perform well below their proposed grade level, we embrace the whole child. They have so many other talents that may not be captured by an assessment or performance task.\r\nTo create a successful environment where all of my students can achieve, requires alot of behind the scences work. The Learning Centers have a variety of task that students will be able to complete with minimal assistance. Many of the items requested, laminating sheets, timers, headphones, and dry erase markers are essential tools for the Learning Stations. We spend over half of our day providing small group instruction and support. When the students are able to complete their work independently, their confidence grows!
