When the supplies arrived, students were especially excited about the flexible seating, classroom rug, headphones, and individual whiteboards. The new seating and rug have helped create a more comfortable space for independent reading, small-group conversations, and students who need a different setting to stay focused. The mobile whiteboard has also allowed me to bring instruction directly to small groups instead of requiring every student to learn in exactly the same way.\r\n\r\nThe pencils, colored pencils, scissors, magnets, and dry-erase boards are already supporting our daily lessons. Students can annotate, create visual projects, answer quick-check questions, and participate even when they do not arrive with their own supplies. The headphones are especially helpful during independent digital coursework because students can listen to instructional material without distracting their classmates. The monitor, lectern, and charging station have made it easier for me to organize technology, present lessons, and move around the classroom while supporting students.\r\n\r\nThese resources may seem simple individually, but together they have made a major difference in how our classroom functions. Students have more opportunities to collaborate, work independently, show their understanding visually, and access the support they need. We will continue using these materials throughout the year for writing, historical analysis, test preparation, creative projects, and small-group instruction. Thank you for investing in my students and helping us build a classroom where everyone has the tools and space to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1781708248033,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-student-learning-one-supply-a/10309945/","projectTitle":"Supporting Student Learning One Supply at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hoekstra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8724714_orig.jpg?crop=1280,1280,x0,y42&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779903423923","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724714"},{"teacherId":8724714,"projectId":10354453,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping make my classroom feel more welcoming, engaging, and supportive. My students were excited when they first saw the new materials—especially the world map rug, colorful lights, and comfortable chair. The rug has become more than decoration. During our World History lessons, students can physically locate the regions we are studying and better visualize connections involving geography, trade, migration, and culture. The chair has also created a quiet place where students can read, complete independent work, or take a brief reset when they feel overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nThe dry-erase markers have helped us use personal whiteboards for quick responses, review games, and checks for understanding. This gives every student a way to participate without always having to speak in front of the class. The wireless keyboard and mouse allow me to move around the room while controlling lessons, displaying student work, and checking in with students who need additional support. The LED lights help create a calmer and more inviting classroom environment, especially during independent work.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students now have a classroom that better supports visual learning, movement, reflection, and active participation. We will continue using these resources throughout the year as we study different societies, analyze global connections, and prepare for major assessments. Thank you for investing in my students and helping create a space where they can feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1782685144290,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-that-spark-student-success/10354453/","projectTitle":"Supplies That Spark Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hoekstra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8724714_orig.jpg?crop=1280,1280,x0,y42&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779903423923","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724714"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134223","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":401,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":88,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":97,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":134223,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about ENCORe arts & media College Prep on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"ENCORe arts & media College Prep","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/ednovate-arts-and-media/134223"}
