Thank you for supporting \"Headphones, Highlighters, and High Hopes\" and for believing in public school students and teachers.\r\n\r\nAs an 11th-grade American Literature teacher, I work with students who are preparing not only for state testing and the ACT, but also for college, careers, and life beyond high school. Many of my students benefit from opportunities to annotate texts, listen to audio supports, and engage with reading and writing in ways that help them build both confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have already transformed the atmosphere of our classroom during independent work time. Students are now able to focus more deeply while listening to audio versions of texts, completing ACT practice, and engaging with digital reading activities without distractions. For several students, this support has increased both comprehension and stamina during reading tasks.\r\n\r\nThe highlighters may seem simple, but they have become powerful learning tools. My students use color-coding strategies to identify claims, evidence, rhetorical appeals, literary devices, grammar patterns, and annotation notes. These hands-on strategies help students organize their thinking and engage more actively with complex texts. I have seen students who were previously hesitant readers become much more willing to participate when they can physically interact with the text through annotation and highlighting.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during a recent close-reading activity. A student who normally struggles to stay engaged proudly showed me a fully annotated passage with multiple colors, margin notes, and highlighted evidence. He told me, \"This actually makes it easier for me to understand what I'm reading.\" Moments like that are exactly why these materials matter so much.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has provided more than classroom supplies. You have helped create an environment where students feel supported, capable, and equipped to succeed. Because we incorporate them into our training program four days a week, students have had consistent opportunities to build foundational strength, improve muscle activation, and reinforce proper movement patterns. We've already seen noticeable gains in stability, control, and overall performance as a result of this regular resistance work.\r\n\r\nIn addition to getting stronger, our students have become more resilient and better protected against injury. The bands allow us to safely target smaller stabilizing muscle groups that are often overlooked in traditional weight training. This has improved joint stability, mobility, and movement mechanics, reducing strain during heavier lifts and sport-specific activities. Students are not only performing better — they're moving with more confidence and control.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the new bands have made our weight room significantly safer. Our previous bands were worn down and frequently breaking, which created both frustration and safety concerns during workouts. With reliable, high-quality equipment, students can train without interruption or risk. These bands have elevated the quality of our program, creating a safer, more effective training environment that supports student growth week after week. While laminators may seem like a simple tool, in a school setting they play an important role in making instruction more engaging, organized, and accessible.\r\n\r\nTeachers are using the laminator to preserve frequently used materials so students can interact with them again and again without them wearing out. In world language classrooms, teachers have shared how helpful it has been for laminating reusable readings, vocabulary activities, and instruction cards. Students are able to reference these materials daily, use them in stations or group work, and focus more on learning rather than managing fragile paper resources.\r\n\r\nOur Special Education MAAS department has also embraced this new resource. Staff are laminating manipulatives, visual supports, and hands-on learning tools that help students practice skills in structured and accessible ways. These materials are now more durable and easier for students to use independently, which supports confidence and consistency in learning.\r\n\r\nBeyond the classroom, our site safety teams have used the laminator to create long-lasting maps, signage, and expectation posters. These laminated visuals are now displayed throughout the building, helping students better understand procedures and contributing to a safer, more organized school environment.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is seeing how quickly this tool has been adopted across departments. Students benefit from clearer instructions, engaging visuals, and materials that are designed to last.
