Through digital music activities and unplugged coding challenges, students explore rhythm, patterns, sequencing, and problem-solving in ways that are hands-on and developmentally appropriate. Technology is used to help students compose, experiment, and receive immediate feedback, allowing them to make connections between music and introductory computer science concepts in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the interactive nature of the resources. They love creating rhythms, solving pattern challenges, and seeing how small changes affect musical and coding outcomes. Many students who may struggle in traditional academic settings have especially thrived with these activities. Learners who enjoy building, tinkering, or thinking visually have gained confidence as they discover that their creativity and problem-solving skills are valued. This project has helped all students feel successful while fostering curiosity, collaboration, and a love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1765124779419,"projectUrl":"project/boosting-music-and-computer-science-lear/9920795/","projectTitle":"Boosting Music and Computer Science Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cindy Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5170132_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1552518893052","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/parkermusicclass"},{"teacherId":5170132,"projectId":9603970,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are already experiencing the difference your support has made in our classroom. Every day, I see them using these new resources to learn, create, and care for one another.\r\n\r\nNow my students are able to grab a freshly sharpened pencil or a box of crayons and dive right into writing stories, solving problems, and creating colorful projects. With our electric pencil sharpener, they no longer lose time struggling with broken tips—there's a line of excited kids waiting to sharpen and get back to work. The laminating sheets are helping us preserve student projects and classroom resources, so their hard work can be displayed and revisited with pride.\r\n\r\nWe are also able to keep our classroom cleaner and healthier. Students pump the hand sanitizer on their way in, tissues are available when sniffles arrive, and the Clorox wipes are helping us maintain a space where everyone feels comfortable and safe. These small routines are building habits of responsibility and care that extend beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students feel prepared, valued, and inspired every day. They know that someone believes in them, and that knowledge shines through in their curiosity and determination.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for making our classroom a brighter and healthier place to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1755718151559,"projectUrl":"project/from-crayons-to-cleanliness/9603970/","projectTitle":"From Crayons to Cleanliness","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cindy Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5170132_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1552518893052","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/parkermusicclass"},{"teacherId":5170132,"projectId":9067738,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has come alive with excitement and curiosity. The magnetic tiles, sensory sand, and building kits have provided my students with tactile, hands-on learning experiences that are both engaging and educational. One of the most memorable moments so far was when my students first encountered the magnetic tiles. They were immediately drawn to the colorful pieces, eager to explore how they fit together and could be used to build different shapes and structures. Watching them work collaboratively, communicating through gestures and expressions, was incredibly heartwarming. For my non-verbal students, these materials have provided a much-needed outlet for creative expression and problem-solving. They are now actively participating in group activities, building structures together, and using these tools to demonstrate their ideas and thoughts.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to integrate these new resources into our daily lessons, the next steps for my students include using the building kits to create representations of real-world objects and structures, further developing their fine motor skills and creativity. They will be challenged to problem-solve as they work together to complete projects, and I will encourage them to reflect on their process, fostering critical thinking and communication. These materials are not only making learning more enjoyable but are also building my students' confidence and sense of accomplishment. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and they are truly thriving in this interactive, hands-on learning environment. Your contribution has made a lasting impact on my students' educational journey, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things they will continue to create and explore with these tools. Thank you for helping bring their ideas to life!","fullyFundedDate":1742923918493,"projectUrl":"project/building-minds-and-sparking-joy-steam-f/9067738/","projectTitle":"Building Minds and Sparking Joy: STEAM For our Super Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cindy Parker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5170132_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1552518893052","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/parkermusicclass"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84707","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":545,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.6,"schoolId":84707,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Edison Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Edison Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/willoughby-eastlake-city-school-district/edison-elementary-school/84707"}
