We have been pulling them out slowly, introducing new toys little by little. Some of the fan favorites of my class has definitely been the bugs, the egg shakers, and the playdough. We use our egg shakers for music time and utilize playdough to create letters we are learning for the week. With the bugs, students were given magnifying glasses and were allotted time to investigate different bugs, exploring how they worked and classifying them into different categories based on characteristics that they each held. \r\n\r\nTo show my students that we were given materials for them to play with in the classroom, I set the boxes up in the front of the classroom and we opened them as if they were birthday presents for us all. They were extremely excited about each one and cheered as they saw each new item. They immediately requested to play with each item, asking if we could keep them all out for the day that we unboxed them. \r\n\r\nWe have moved into heavily learning letters in our classroom now. We have new materials that give students the opportunity to explore different letters and items related to them. As we continue this we are hopeful that students will be able to learn about their environment through the toys provided and start to build their letter fluency.
