With the new glazes and firing tools, students are now able to participate in the full ceramic process from start to finish. One of our favorite projects this year was creating textured animal pinch pots. Students carefully designed and sculpted their pieces, then selected glaze colors and applied them with great attention to detail. When the finished pieces came out of the kiln, the classroom erupted with excitement. Students were amazed to see how the dull glaze colors transformed into bright, glossy finishes, and they proudly compared the unique effects each glaze created.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited to use professional brushes, glazing supplies, and proper ceramic equipment. Many students who are usually hesitant in art became deeply focused and engaged because they felt trusted with authentic materials and responsibilities. They quickly learned that ceramics requires patience, planning, and problem-solving, especially when glaze colors changed after firing or when they had to carefully handle fragile pieces.","fullyFundedDate":1778866592426,"projectUrl":"project/shaping-skills-through-clay/10062125/","projectTitle":"Shaping Skills Through Clay","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fogle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10419347"},{"teacherId":9583501,"projectId":9957519,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom through DonorsChoose.
