Thanks to your generosity and support, my students have been able to see technology at work. From the moment that I set the 3-D printer up and my students walked in the door, the kids have been enthusiastic and so excited about this piece of technology. I love to watch the kids as they stand and are mesmerized as the 3-D projects are created. They have lots of questions about how things work and many of them want to figure out what each piece of the machine is doing. We use the creations that we build on the printer in our classroom store so students can purchase them with their points that they earned throughout the day. Recently, the students asked if they could provide a suggestion box so they could give ideas of what to have printed. They are very invested in this printer. I have even had to tell students to please sit down to do their work because they want to just go and watch it. I love their excitement and I'm hoping that this will help encourage some of them to dive deeper into the world of STEM activities. Today's students are so creative and tech savvy. I want to encourage them to put their creativity to use! Technology like this might seem simple, but for my students, it's an incredibly powerful learning tool. The bubbles capture their attention and motivate them to move, reach, point, and pop—helping them develop important fine motor and coordination skills in a way that feels like play.\r\n\r\nThe best part is watching how this activity sparks communication and connection. Students laugh together, take turns popping bubbles, and share moments of pure delight. Even students who are usually hesitant to engage are eager to participate when the bubble machine is on. One student in particular, who typically needs extra encouragement to use his hands, now eagerly reaches and points to the bubbles as they float by—his face lighting up with pride every time he pops one!\r\n\r\nThis project has made learning truly come alive for my students, turning a simple classroom moment into one filled with growth, joy, and shared success.","fullyFundedDate":1757004288439,"projectUrl":"project/pop-learn-play/9498054/","projectTitle":"Pop, Learn, Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Simpson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6221386_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1548392066769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kristen-simpson1"},{"teacherId":6221386,"projectId":9642940,"letterContent":"When our new JoyCat Mystery Alphabet Box and Toddler Talking Flash Cards arrived, my students' faces absolutely lit up. It was a moment that truly captured the power of learning through play!\r\n\r\nWe now use these materials every week during small-group literacy time and center rotations. The alphabet box has become a favorite for sorting and matching letters, while the talking flash cards encourage my students to build vocabulary and practice listening skills independently. These hands-on, sensory-rich tools have helped every child—especially my emerging communicators—feel successful and engaged.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be expanding our literacy centers to include activities where students can \"build\" their own simple words using the alphabet pieces and then find matching cards that show pictures or objects beginning with those sounds. This engaging game has become a favorite in the classroom, where students play for prizes while practicing important skills such as vocabulary, reading comprehension, and grammar. I've integrated the Plinko game into lessons by asking questions related to the material we are studying, allowing students to drop a token and land on different prize sections. The excitement of winning a prize while reinforcing learning has created a dynamic atmosphere, where students are actively participating and eager to engage in every lesson.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. Their eyes lit up, and they couldn't contain their excitement, especially when they saw the Plinko game. They immediately understood that this was not just a regular classroom activity; it was something special. The game added an element of surprise and fun that made learning feel less like a task and more like a reward. The energy in the room was contagious, and they were eager to dive in and see how well they could apply what they had learned to win prizes. It was clear that the materials had an immediate positive impact on their enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps in our classroom projects will involve continuing to use the Plinko game across all subjects to encourage positive behavior and celebrate student achievements. We plan to incorporate the game into various lessons, not just for ELA but also for subjects like math, science, and social studies. It will also be used as a tool to reinforce positive behaviors in the classroom, rewarding students for demonstrating kindness, effort, and teamwork. As we move forward, we are excited to see how these interactive tools will keep motivating students and celebrating their progress. It's clear that the support from our donors is helping to make learning more exciting and effective, and I look forward to the continued growth of my students with these valuable resources.","fullyFundedDate":1738810154927,"projectUrl":"project/ela-math-plinko-games/9098801/","projectTitle":"ELA & Math Plinko Games!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jolley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9916359_orig.png?crop=274,274,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746808675775","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9916359"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63175","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":564,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":63175,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Valley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Valley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/east-valley-school-district-90/east-valley-intermediate-school/63175"}
