It's made it possible for us to use the escape room activities more often, and my students absolutely love them!\r\n\r\nThe first time they saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They were curious, engaged, and ready to jump in. Seeing their enthusiasm for learning made it clear just how impactful your donation has been. These escape rooms make learning fun, active, and hands-on, exactly what middle schoolers need!\r\n\r\nOne specific project we recently completed was a math-based escape room that challenged them to solve puzzles using equations and geometry concepts. Having access to pencils, fidgets, and a calming space has helped students stay focused, feel more prepared, and manage their emotions throughout the day. \r\nOne powerful moment came during a writing activity—normally a challenge for some of my students—but with fresh supplies and calming tools available, they were able to settle in and complete their work with more confidence and less stress. The atmosphere has become more supportive and focused because students know they have what they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nWe're continuing to focus on creating a calm, productive learning environment where students feel safe and supported. With the help of these supplies, students are better able to engage in their independent work and group projects. Right now, we're working on a novel study \"Refugee\", and the improved focus and access to materials have really helped them stay on task. We're also building routines around using the calming area and rewards system to reinforce positive behavior and self-regulation. The resources you helped provide—his habitat supplies, food, and care items—have allowed us to create a safe and enriching space for him. We've incorporated him into our lessons across subjects, from writing descriptive paragraphs about his behavior and habitat in ELA, to learning about reptiles and ecosystems in science. One memorable project was when students researched proper reptile care and presented their findings to the class, reinforcing both academic and real-world learning.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate and contagious! When the supplies arrived and we introduced him to his new home, students lit up with joy and curiosity. They asked thoughtful questions, took responsibility for setting up his space, and eagerly volunteered for care duties. Their sense of pride and ownership has been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWe're currently tying in social-emotional learning by having students reflect on how caring for a pet fosters responsibility, empathy, and focus.
