Once they have finished the cards, they are able to play in the sensory bin. My sensory bin is filled with beads, and seasonal items, such as glittery trees, bells, etc. They also use scoops, funnels and bowls to experiment with the different textures and items in the sensory bin. Each month I change out the items to go along with the season to keep things interesting and engaging!\r\nSensory bins are a great way to incorporate literacy and math with fun sensory materials. My students are so engaged and having fun while learning. They are also working together with their peers to build a coaster that runs smoothly. \r\nWe have been reading different fairy tales and folk tales, and I am excited to incorporate the Three Little Pigs and Three Billy Goats Gruff STEM kits. I will be using them during our station time in the STEM center. My students love that they are building a bridge for the goats and houses for the pigs. These STEM kits are such a fun way to incorporate engineering with literacy. I put these at my abc center where I have a magnetic board. I put different pictures of things that are simple 3 letter words (ex. dog, rug, map) and they used the tiles to sound out and spell the words on the board. \r\nHaving children actively engaged in manipulating letters to sound out and spell words is so crucial in their reading development. These magnet tiles are fun, colorful and engaging. They have been a great addition to my abc center!\r\nMy students are also having so much fun and using their imaginations to create and build structures with the building bricks that you purchased. I put these building bricks at my STEM station. While building structures, my students are using their creativity, building fine motor skills and working together with other classmates to create new things!\r\nWe just finished up a unit on our 5 senses and I used the Lakeshore Touch and Match Guessing Game to introduce sense of touch.
