Your generosity has brought the Let's Find Out newsletter to our class each week. It has been so fun to use these weekly magazines to learn about different ideas and concepts. A few specific issues have been about nocturnal animals and the invention of maple syrup. One issue talked about the possibility of growing a square pumpkin. The kids loved it since we had read the book Spookly, the Square Pumpkin book! It has been fun to use the online resources that include videos and go along with the weekly magazines. It did supply our classroom and students with some much needed sensory seeking items, like a swing, used every day to help regulate emotions, and to build up relationships with teacher and staff, and also, it's fun to swing! I was also able to get a beautiful circle time rug that we use daily. It gives my students a safe, comfy spot to sit, they each have their own area, and they can sit and listen to and engage with stories. I too, sit on the rug with them, making sure each one can see the story and try to learn and engage with books in their own ways, and skills, too. We also were able to build up our board book library with books that are durable, longer lasting than paper books, and easier for my students with learning disabilities, to turn the pages as they learn to love books and then learn to speak and learn to read. The board books have been amazing! \r\nHaving new, fresh play dough is also a real treat in our class! It's soft, not dried out, and is helping the students build up hand strength, in order to then learn how to hold a pencil and how to write with a pencil, or how to use and manipulate scissors. Play dough is getting their hands stronger and more ready to have some good school skills.","fullyFundedDate":1756174540989,"projectUrl":"project/seeking-sweet-swing-ful-sensory-input/9628781/","projectTitle":"Seeking Sweet, Swing-ful, Sensory Input!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McBride","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10192704_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756171818522","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10192704"},{"teacherId":8278244,"projectId":9561386,"letterContent":"We've been using our new STEM resources during our weekly science rotations, and the excitement has been incredible! Recently, students worked in small groups to design and build mini bridges using the new engineering kits. They tested different materials and angles to see which bridge could hold the most weight. The best part was watching them problem-solve together and cheer when their designs succeeded!\r\nTheir faces completely lit up! Many students immediately started brainstorming what they wanted to build first and couldn't wait to dive in. It was so rewarding to see their curiosity and confidence grow as they explored hands-on learning tools that make science and engineering come alive.\r\n\r\nNext, students will apply what they've learned about structure and design to create animal habitats that meet specific environmental needs. They'll use the STEM kits to construct models that show how animals adapt to survive in different conditions. This project will combine science, creativity, and engineering—all while encouraging teamwork and critical thinking.","fullyFundedDate":1757423443186,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-amazing-kids-have-a-great-schoo/9561386/","projectTitle":"Help our amazing kids have a great school year!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mackay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8278244_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691947523761","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8278244"},{"teacherId":7910883,"projectId":9250870,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donations to our class! Using art in my classroom is such a fun way to teach ideas and practice skills. The kids in my class love doing art and using the fun supplies that we have received!\r\n\r\nIn kindergarten, kids use crayons multiple times a day. After only a few months, they really need new crayons because they are broken, missing, or very dull. They get so excited to have new sharp crayons! \r\n\r\nWe use a lot of worksheets in kindergarten. A lot of our worksheets require students to cut out pieces and glue them in the correct place. I have loved having LCD tablets for my students to use! Having the tablets has been a fun way to introduce some variation into my classroom. In kindergarten there is a lot of repetition, so I am always looking for new ways practice essential skills. We have used the tablets to practice writing letters, numbers, CVC words, and sight words. It is an easy way for kids to write and then show me their answers. It is also a great way to have them practice a specific word or letter over and over again. We have had so much fun using the Bee Bots in kindergarten! \r\n\r\nBee Bots require kids to think about sequencing as they try to program the bees to move in a certain direction. The first time we used them I let the kids just explore them without much explanation. I wanted them to see if they could discover how they worked and what each button did to make the bee move. After about 15 minutes of discovery, we all came together and talked about what they had learned. Individually they had learned different things about the bee. Collectively, we talked about the things they had discovered. It was fun to see them collaborate and hear them say \"oh ya, mine did that too\". After, some direction and some explanation about the buttons I let them try again and use the things they had learned. They really had fun and got to be pretty good at programing the bees. We then used mats and they tried to program the bees to go to a certain place on the mat. We have loved using the Bee Bots in our class! It's a fun way to use our thinking and reasoning skills!
