It made a huge impact in my classroom and for my students! After Christmas break, I shared the good news about our donation. They were ecstatic and couldn't wait for the packages to arrive! \r\n My goal for this project was to provide optional seating and sensory objects. Many students struggle to stay attentive and get distracted easily. The headphones, fidgets, and cushions have made a big change with these students staying focused better in class. In addition, the special stools and seats allowed students with sensory needs to be able to stay engaged better with their learning. The water timers have been an amazing asset when recess is over. Many students use these to help calm down or get their wiggles out. Thank you again for your generosity. My students have most definitely benefited from it.","fullyFundedDate":1734099012279,"projectUrl":"project/stay-calm-and-cool-down/8744165/","projectTitle":"Stay Calm and Cool Down!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Neitzel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9733022_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725593338778","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9733022"},{"teacherId":229098,"projectId":8938272,"letterContent":"I am beyond grateful to have this 3D printer in my classroom. I wanted it to supplement my Design and Modeling class for my 7th and 8th graders to make their learning come alive. The base of the unit is to think and create like an engineer. We go over how to make engineer drawings and create using the engineering design process. Then we move into taking those drawings to a 3D level on a site called TinkerCad. Students are asked to create different projects using this site. Our first design was a name tag plate. Knowing they have the ability to 3D print these using one of 6 filament colors brought the project to life. Last trimester before the printer the projects were good but the kids did not take ownership of them and really take time to be careful on the dimensions and aspects of the name tag. This trimester, I see careful planning on their part, collaboration, and much more creative ideas to really make the name tags unique. The tags are showing off the students' personalities.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part I would say for the students is to challenge the lessons. Have good conversations about why the design requirements might have to be adjusted because we are actually printing them. I like that they are problem solving about a measurement being too thin or too long. We came up with a class set of design requirements to fit our printer for the name tags. They are loving being able to take home a piece of their learning from the classroom.\r\n\r\nI have a couple of 8th grade students who just love designing and are exploring all that TinkerCad has to offer. They are now officially my 3D printing and TinkerCad experts. When there is a question I can't answer, they are there to offer their expertise to fellow classmates. They pushed the envelope and added unique designs to their name tags including a scalloped edge and a different design shape to accommodate a letter that goes way up on the name plate. I love that this is inspiring some to think about design and engineering as a possible career in the future. I am so grateful for this opportunity to spark that interest or hobby in them. This is all thanks to wonderful donors like you who are helping to put this technology into classrooms and making learning come alive!!","fullyFundedDate":1733257137099,"projectUrl":"project/design-and-modeling-projects-for-stem-co/8938272/","projectTitle":"Design and Modeling Projects for STEM Come to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schamper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp229098_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729869280236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/229098"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66574","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":561,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":16,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":53.9,"schoolId":66574,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Eagle Crest Charter Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Eagle Crest Charter Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/michigan-department-of-education/eagle-s-crest-charter-academy/66574"}
