Over the summer, typically, the summer brain drain equates to a loss of a lot of covered skills and strategies. Last summer could have been detrimental to the academic progress of our scholars.\r\n\r\nMy scholars' families work very hard to help me facilitate learning at school and at home. My scholars made mountains of progress during the school year. Over the summer, families used the donated materials and stayed in contact about the great usefulness.\r\n\r\nOne grownup mentioned that she was extremely worried about her child's summer progress because she would not be attending camps and summer learning program. She also mentioned that she understood the importance for summer enrichment opportunities, but the finances was the issue. She stated that she was so relieved that she was provided with a Summer Bridge Workbooks to continue to prepare her scholar for first grade. The new resources you provided have truly made a difference. When the boxes of art supplies first arrived, my students' eyes lit up—it was like watching them open presents on a holiday. They immediately wanted to make the best artworks they could.. It's been incredible to see how having a wider variety of paints and materials has ignited a new passion for art in so many of them.\r\nWe've been putting the artworks to use right away with our \"Art Across the World\" gallery project. Each student has chosen a country and is researching an artist from that region. We're keeping a giant map on the wall to track our progress, and it's already full of pins! The new artworks inspired by different artists have allowed us to explore cultures and perspectives that we wouldn't have been able to before. We're currently in the middle of this project, and the next step is for each student to create a presentation about their chosen country and artist, which they'll share with the class.\r\nYour support has not only given my students new materials to make art, but it has also shown them that people they've never met are invested in their education. Often, students only bring home half used notebooks, pencils, and dried out markers from a year of school use.
