They had been eagerly waiting for weeks to find out if it would be fulfilled or not, and had high hopes for the indoor recess supplies they wanted! As packages have arrived, students have been thrilled to open them up together, and they saved us first quarter during a heat wave that kept us inside for a few weeks!\r\n\r\nSo far, some favorites of our class have been magnatiles, legos, and coloring books -- we're working on getting ready to bust out the Kinetic Sand next! As I'd hoped, these resources have promoted student play, engagement with peers, and exploration I haven't seen in other classrooms that have fewer indoor recess options, put a movie on, or allow tech use. Students are talking, taking turns, managing disagreements, and LAUGHING!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for supporting public education and my classroom, specifically. I had to take a moment to get a couple down from standing on their chairs. They were SO excited as the packages of new books, visuals, stuffies, games, and more for engagement in CKLA came in. We opened each package as a class to a chorus of \"ooohs\" and \"ahhhs.\" Students have named all of the stuffed animals and hungrily checked out all our new books! \r\n\r\nAll the books you helped fund are proudly displayed in a small library shelf in the front of our classroom and are matched to our current unit. These hook and anchor students in our learning and also keep them excited about reading, by linking to current content we're studying in class (right now, we're learning about animal classification -- the human body is next)!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your gratitude in supporting our classroom. The joy and eagerness on my students' faces were unforgettable and thrilling. I always wanted to get them more time under our beautiful trees, but once we'd get outside, students would struggle with the sensation of sitting directly on the grass, be worried about getting their clothes wet or dirty, or struggle to commit to a spot. Your generosity and love for my classroom and students has contributed to a smooth, regulated, and safe start to our school year. Some of our favorite donations have been play doh, soft lighting, and noise cancelling headphones -- each of which have been used every single day in our class!\r\n\r\nI have had multiple parents (and students) comment to me about how the tools donated to our class contribute to a calm and centered classroom environment that help them stay focused and at peace during the school day. Students are thrilled every day during quiet time, still, 2 months into the school year, to have time building, creating, and resetting with their playdoh. Noise cancelling headphones have come in exceptionally handy during assemblies, indoor recess, and PE for students with heightened auditory sensitivities. Soft lighting helps students feel cozy, welcome, and calm as they enter our room! \r\n\r\nNow that your generosity has funded this project, we are moving forward towards additional ambitions!
