Through these texts, students are learning to identify and name their feelings, practice self-regulation strategies, and develop empathy for others. Each story provides clear, relatable examples of emotions and behaviors, which allows us to have meaningful discussions about kindness, problem-solving, and making positive choices. The accompanying plushies help bring these lessons to life, giving students a tangible way to connect with each emotion and concept.\r\n\r\nDuring SEL time, reading in our classroom is interactive, reflective, and student-centered. We read each book together as a class before placing it in the classroom library, pausing to discuss key moments and allowing students to share their thoughts and personal connections. Many students are especially excited about the new books, particularly when they can hold or interact with the matching plushies, which deepens their engagement and understanding.
