Students complete interactive online health modules, write and submit assignments through Google Classroom, and engage with skill-building games on their Chromebooks. While many of our donors may use technology at home, what's different in a classroom setting is that 25–30 students are often accessing audio content at the same time. Before receiving these headphones, background noise made it difficult for students to concentrate and fully understand what they were hearing. It often created distractions that interfered with learning, motivation, and enjoyment.\r\n\r\nNow, students are able to work independently and focus on their own learning. The headphones have created a calmer, more productive classroom environment where students can truly engage with the content at their own pace. This has been especially powerful during online health modules, where listening comprehension is critical. With clear audio, students are better able to absorb information and produce thoughtful, higher-quality written responses.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is the sense of ownership and independence the headphones provide. They love being able to pace themselves without being distracted by others. Additionally, we use music as a reward for meeting classroom expectations and producing strong work. Being able to listen to music while working has been highly motivating and has encouraged students to stay on task and take pride in their effort. \r\n\r\nThe impact has been particularly meaningful for our English Learners. While closed captions on our modules are helpful, hearing words spoken aloud has been instrumental in strengthening their listening comprehension and supporting oral language development. Several EL students who were previously hesitant or overwhelmed by online content are now more confident and engaged. The audio support allows them to process language more effectively, which directly improves both their understanding of health concepts and their overall English development.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the headphones have given students more responsibility in the classroom. They understand that this equipment is a shared resource made possible by generous donors, and they take pride in caring for it. Students have stepped up in handling, storing, and returning the headphones properly, which has helped build accountability and respect for classroom materials. This has impacted our classroom culture enormously.\r\n\r\nYour support has done more than provide a classroom supply — it has helped create a focused, inclusive, and empowering learning environment. This has allowed me significantly more flexibility when teaching, since I no longer need to have my computer attached to the projector during a lesson.
