With the recent winter storms and cold temperatures in our area, students realize the importance of helping others. I know we have been out of school for several days, however, many students and teachers are using the yarn and looms, working at home to keep this project going. We have about 25 students in our enrichment cluster who were very excited when we introduced this project. There are even more students that have come forward wanting to participate in crocheting the hats and scarves. Currently, we have made more than a dozen hats to share. Our school community always pulls together to help and support others. My second graders were the first to see the packages arrive. \r\n\r\nWe have been working with classroom volunteers to learn how to thread needles, sew and cross-stitch. We are still in the beginning stages and haven't yet completed our first patterns, yet they love it when they have the chance to work on their projects.
