Students finish one book, return it, and look for the next book in the series—and other students are often waiting to read the same titles.\r\n\r\nHaving complete series available has made a real difference during independent reading. When students discover a book or character they enjoy, they no longer have to stop because our classroom library is missing the next book. They can keep reading, which helps them build reading stamina, comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence. Just as importantly, students recommend books to one another, and seeing classmates excited about a series often encourages another student to give it a try.\r\n\r\nFor a teacher, there are few things better than seeing books become worn from being passed from reader to reader. These books are not sitting untouched on a shelf—they are being chosen, checked out, returned, and chosen again.
