These resources will be a meaningful addition to our school counseling office and will help create a welcoming, supportive environment where students can learn to understand, express, and manage their emotions.\r\n\r\nThe SEL posters and \"Spot of Feelings\" materials will be used throughout our school counseling office to support conversations and lessons about emotions, self-awareness, coping skills, empathy, and positive relationships. Having engaging, student-friendly resources readily available will help make these important social-emotional concepts more accessible and relatable for our elementary students. These tools will become part of the everyday work we do to help children build skills that support both their academic success and overall well-being.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and recognizing the importance of social-emotional learning. I have already utilized all the Clorox wipes. As you know, germs are amongst us this winter season. \r\n\r\nThe Play-Doh has come in so handy, as you can tell from the photo. The Play-Doh serves as a very grounding and calming activity for students when they are escalated, dysregulated, and, in the red zone, as we call it. \r\n\r\nWe utilize the teaching of Zones of Regulation, which describes the different zones our bodies could be in. There is the green zone, which is the zone where our brains are ready to learn. There is the blue zone, where we might be feeling a little sluggish, sad or tired. There is the yellow zone, where we might be feeling a little jittery and nervous and anxious, and then there's the red zone, which we describe as maybe like a volcano blowing up. \r\n\r\nAll of your donations have served to help regulate my students at Douglass elementary.
