Not only do they motivate students to come to school, but they also encourage them to arrive early so they can start building right away! I love overhearing students discuss what they are creating, share the steps of their projects, and collaborate with partners. Whether they are exploring coding with our mouse robots or thinking creatively \"outside the box\" with Brainometry and Gravity Maze, these activities spark curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving. With Brainometry, students experiment with stacking and connecting pieces in unique ways to solve puzzles, and with Gravity Maze, they test different paths and angles to get the marble to the target. These hands-on STEM experiences challenge their critical thinking and creativity while making learning fun and engaging.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors may use technology at home, \r\nbut in the classroom, it takes on a special role. The STEM tools allow my students to experiment, test ideas, and see real-world results of concepts we learn in lessons. The materials have been especially exciting for students who are naturally curious, as well as for those who may be hesitant in science — now they are fully engaged and motivated to explore. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students, thank you for helping make science fun, meaningful, and accessible for every child in our class.","fullyFundedDate":1746785320207,"projectUrl":"project/stem-explorers-sparking-curiosity-throu/9325601/","projectTitle":"STEM Explorers: Sparking Curiosity Through Hands-On Science!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7300251_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658205949192","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7300251"},{"teacherId":7300251,"projectId":9366357,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a lively reading space where books are not just materials on a shelf, but doorways into laughter, imagination, and new discoveries. Your support made it possible for us to add a wonderful variety of books—silly picture books, thought-provoking stories, activity books, and engaging chapter books—that have already had a powerful impact on my second graders.\r\n\r\nMany of you love reading yourselves, but what you may not know is how much teaching reading relies on having a wide variety of texts at different levels, with different styles and purposes. Each new book we received introduces my students to new lessons and skills in fun, age-appropriate ways. For example, The Pigeon Collection by Mo Willems helps students practice fluency and expression, because they get to act out the pigeon's dramatic voice and emotions while reading aloud. The Amelia Bedelia Chapter Books guide students into longer texts, building stamina, comprehension, and an understanding of how humor and wordplay drive a story. Meanwhile, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs offers a fresh perspective that sparks meaningful discussions about point of view and how every story has more than one side. \r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students this gift. Every page they turn, every laugh they share, and every new skill they master is possible because of you. Having a spot to create, craft, and reset has transformed their school day into something they look forward to. It brings me such joy to see how this corner encourages all of my students to practice emotional regulation—an essential skill that will benefit them not only in school, but also throughout their lives.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact on my classroom. These titles have brought fresh energy to our reading time and have been instrumental in helping students develop important literacy skills. With Chez Bob, we explored character traits, predictions, and theme through the story of a bird with a big plan and an even bigger heart. Ice Cream Man opened a window into the world of innovation and perseverance, allowing students to connect with nonfiction in a way that felt meaningful and accessible. These stories provide the perfect balance of fun and depth—ideal for teaching comprehension strategies, expanding vocabulary, and fostering a true love of reading.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading looks like a blend of independent reading, partner discussions, and group read-alouds. Students are encouraged to talk about what they read, ask questions, and make connections. We use sticky notes to jot down thoughts, and reading journals to reflect on themes and characters. One student who used to shy away from reading has fallen in love with Chez Bob—she now asks if we can read it again and has even started writing her own story about a bird with a plan! Another student was so fascinated by Ice Cream Man that he asked to research more inventors during our library time.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made this all possible.
