The game tried to trick them when listening to sounds that were either animals or instruments. They are having so much fun reading the new books and they audibly gasped at our beautiful new rug. They got so excited to sit on the rug and learn from their spots on the rug. Every day, they ask if they can sit on the rug, even when they are completing seat work! It is so nice to see them so excited about something!\r\n\r\nMy students were asking me every day before the materials arrived if they were here yet and when they would arrive to the school because they were so excited to see it all! They all stood up out of their seats when the janitor brought it all in, and they were so excited to see it and use it the following day when it was all unpacked. \r\n\r\nWe are using the rug every day for whole group instruction, and the students use the books during their small group or independent time. Our calm corner is coming along nicely and is now a comforting retreat where students can practice self-regulation strategies using fidget tools, breathing exercises, and reflection prompts.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support my students as they develop their SEL skills. We are currently working on identifying emotions and using positive coping strategies, and the flexible seating encourages collaboration as students discuss and role-play different scenarios. The calm corner provides a space for students to practice these skills independently when they need a moment to reset. The finger puppets are darling and will be very engaging for the littles! \r\nThe biggest hit has been the play doh. All grades love to play with it and the molds are wonderful. Their imagination and collaboration is wonderful to see.\r\nI saved the friendship bracelets for the 5th graders, and we had a very close connection sitting in a circle creating them.
