We've set up a care closet where teachers can either bring students to pick out what they need or quietly grab a care bag for them (whichever feels more comfortable and respectful for the student). It's a small action that makes a huge difference in that student's day.\r\n\r\nStaff was excited to have this resource brought to our school. We all appreciate that the items were just for them and that they didn't have to ask or explain anything. Several students have already picked up toothbrushes and toothpaste, and you could tell it made them feel cared for and supported. \r\n\r\nOur next steps would be getting further donations so we don't run out of supplies and making sure this resource is known by families. The goal is to make it easily accessible without shame, to make students more comfortable coming to school. I predict it will take a while to build that confidence to ask, but will have great results.","fullyFundedDate":1748803496943,"projectUrl":"project/star-supplies-for-support/9301294/","projectTitle":"Star Supplies for Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Falcioni","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6634231_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y182&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746048361675","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6634231"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82792","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":718,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":34,"percentWhite":28,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"24.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":91.3,"schoolId":82792,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Desert View School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Desert View School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lancaster-school-district/desert-view-school/82792"}
