As groups research, write, and revise their presentations, text-to-speech allows students to hear their work read aloud, helping them catch mistakes, clarify ideas, and better understand complex vocabulary. This is particularly helpful for students who struggle with reading or focus, because hearing the text reinforces comprehension and keeps everyone engaged in the task. By the time groups present, students feel more confident because they have practiced and refined their ideas using a tool that supports understanding, not just completion.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about this new technology is how immediate and interactive it feels. They enjoy being able to listen to their writing and adjust it in real time, especially when working together in groups. Text-to-speech makes collaboration more balanced—students who may not feel comfortable reading aloud can still fully participate by listening and responding to the audio. Pairing this technology with snacks as small rewards during group work has also increased motivation. Students see snacks as a positive reinforcement for staying focused, working cooperatively, and reaching project milestones, which keeps energy and morale high throughout the process.\r\n\r\nCertain students have especially warmed to text-to-speech technology, particularly those who are hesitant readers, English language learners, or students with learning differences. These students often show increased confidence during group discussions because they can rely on the audio support to better understand the material and contribute ideas. When it comes time to present to the teacher, they are more willing to speak and explain their group's work. Combined with snacks as rewards, the technology helps create a supportive and motivating environment where all students feel valued and capable of success.","fullyFundedDate":1759945209390,"projectUrl":"project/mr-gomezs-literacy-boost-project/9771298/","projectTitle":"Mr. Gomez's Literacy Boost Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gomez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9778545"},{"teacherId":6417974,"projectId":9812601,"letterContent":"Thank you so much to the DonorsChoose Community and the additional donors who made this project possible. In a community where more than half of our students come from low-income households, your support means more than just supplies — it shows students that people they may never meet care about their experience, their comfort, and their success.\r\n\r\nThe snacks, games, and wellness items are already being used to support long school days, celebrate students' efforts, and create moments of connection and joy. As you can see in the photos, the rolling carts are now part of how learning happens, not just where supplies are stored. Students move to the cart, pick up what they need, and get right to work. That simple independence keeps the lesson flowing and helps students feel responsible for our shared space.\r\n\r\nBefore we had the carts, something as simple as using headphones could make the room feel hectic. I often had to walk back and forth to a headphone box, or students would come up one by one to grab them, which broke focus and energy. Now, the headphones live on a rolling cart. I can calmly walk around supporting students while they quietly grab what they need. When the activity ends, one student rolls the cart through the room and collects the headphones quickly and neatly. This routine has made our classroom feel noticeably calmer and more organized.\r\n\r\nBecause of this smoother flow, every minute of class time feels meaningful. Students spend more time listening, speaking, and creating in Korean—and less time waiting. The carts help Korean learning move through the room, give students more opportunities to speak, and create space for them to create with confidence. Your donation made essential hygiene products—such as deodorant, lip balm, and menstrual items—accessible to individuals who often juggle school alongside work, family responsibilities, and financial stress. For both teens and adults, having these basic necessities readily available has provided immediate relief and restored a sense of dignity and stability.\r\n\r\nFor the adult community, many of whom are returning to education to improve their lives and support their families, this support has been especially meaningful. My high school students gladly shared the resources with them in a way that empowered and respected all who were involved.
