Being able to present scholars with opportunities to see themselves in books, and learn about other perspectives is the ultimate goal.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the year their will be literature circles and a choice book project. When they asked for colored paper or glue they got as much as they needed! Instead of conserving what I had from the school I was able to give them freely anything they asked for. The colors provided in the pack were vibrant and easy to print on. The students used the paper and glue for their \"Superbug\"models and in their shared \"Scientific Abstracts.\" It really brought their lab and modeling work to life as you can see from the pictures attached. \r\n\r\nI still have more paper and so plan on using it next semester too. For a bit of context I teach a Medical Interventions Project Lead the Way class where scholars learn about Medial Careers and the science behind medical diseases, diagnosis, tests, treatments and the ethical considerations around all of it. It is a semester class. The topics covered are 1. Infections 2. Cancer and 3. Diabetes and Organ Transplants. We build a lot of models and carry out about 6 labs. It is both academic and career focused and based on patient stories and case studies.\r\n\r\nAs I am sure you know teachers spend a lot of their own money on supplies and so when you stepped in to alleviate some of the burden it was such a gift to me too!","fullyFundedDate":1755737056414,"projectUrl":"project/medical-interventions-scientific-poster/9521816/","projectTitle":"Medical Interventions Scientific Poster Presentations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boyd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10104163"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104961","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":762,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":67,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"23.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":104961,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Del Lago Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Del Lago Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/escondido-union-high-school-district/del-lago-academy-of-applied-science/104961"}
