Before even use the items for the intended purpose, my students and I were able to practice unboxing items, ensuring all items arrived as expected, and were able to follow sets of instructions in order to assemble the shelving unit. This was a great opportunity to practice functional life skills. \r\n\r\nMy students with challenges that limit their community outing experiences or who simply require additional time have been able to practice finding items from a smaller selection in our mock grocery store. Some students have been able to check expiration dates and/or sort by food type. The mock grocery store has provided a number of entry and exit points for students to have greater access and application to their learning. \r\n\r\nMy students with sensory needs were, and have been, overjoyed to have access to more headphones when the room becomes too noisy and overstimulating. One student in particular has benefited from the most using the sensory boards to practice Occupational Therapy type tasks to Velcro, lace, and fasten buttons together.","fullyFundedDate":1764692534439,"projectUrl":"project/mock-grocery-store-and-sensory-needs/9937502/","projectTitle":"Mock Grocery Store and Sensory Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Collins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9838570"},{"teacherId":7126851,"projectId":9938498,"letterContent":"Thank you for the art supplies for our class. The art lessons are having a positive impact on students' learning by encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. Art helps support understanding by allowing my students to visualize and explore ideas in different ways. It also promotes emotional development by giving my students a safe outlet to express feelings and build confidence.
