They have enjoyed being able to read all the books that have been sent. The students are working hard to learn to read more chapter books and expand their vocabulary. \r\nI have been working on teaching students about reading and understanding text by doing choral reading, round robin reading, and simply reading to them. They love to sit on our carpet and listen to me read to them. \r\nThey enjoy developing an understanding of the text, identifying the genre, characters, setting, plot, and using their imagination to understand what they are reading. The students have free reading time whenever they have completed a classroom task. We try to do group reading for 15 minutes every day.\r\nI have some high students that are especially enjoying the Smile series.\r\nThank you again for helping to promote reading to my second graders.
