The resources you've helped provide—ranging from a computer for LEGO robotics to comfortable seating—have made an incredible difference in our classroom. The computer has become the heart of our robotics station, allowing students to dive into coding with the SPIKE Prime kits. They've been learning how to program sensors, motors, and interactive responses, all while developing critical problem-solving and logical thinking skills. It's been amazing to see students realize they can design something, write the code for it, and watch it come to life!\r\n\r\nThe small electric train materials and resonance tone boxes have also sparked a lot of excitement. Building their own simple electromagnetic trains gave students a hands-on way to explore circuits and energy transfer—concepts that can feel abstract until you see them in action. And the resonance boxes? They've been a surprise favorite! Students love experimenting with sound waves and frequencies, and they're beginning to connect those experiments to broader scientific ideas. One student who rarely speaks in class actually led a demonstration with the tone boxes, proudly explaining the science behind what we were hearing. Comfortable seating has also made a difference—students are more focused and engaged during longer work sessions.\r\n\r\nThank you all so much!","fullyFundedDate":1736899119988,"projectUrl":"project/doing-science-in-style/9045873/","projectTitle":"Doing Science in Style!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Cassy Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9784039_orig.jpg?crop=1050,1050,x0,y73&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730150068261","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9784039"},{"teacherId":9784039,"projectId":9239801,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support! With the new materials—monster spring jumpers, dropper poppers, and bouncy balls—our students were able to dive into hands-on investigations of conservation of energy in a way that was both engaging and unforgettable. One of the most memorable moments came during our energy transfer lab when students launched dropper poppers across the room, trying to predict and measure how potential energy converted into kinetic energy. Their eyes lit up as the concepts they'd learned in lectures came to life right in front of them.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new equipment, their excitement was immediate. They couldn't wait to get their hands on the materials, and there was an audible buzz in the room as we introduced the activities. Over the course of the year, approximately 500 students had the opportunity to explore these resources—an incredible reach that truly enriched our science curriculum. Next, our students will be revisiting these materials as they move into more complex labs that explore energy transformation in different systems. Your donation didn't just make a single lesson more exciting—it created a foundation for a whole series of interactive, meaningful learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1744201558189,"projectUrl":"project/exploring-energy-in-lab/9239801/","projectTitle":"Exploring Energy in Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Cassy Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9784039_orig.jpg?crop=1050,1050,x0,y73&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730150068261","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9784039"},{"teacherId":9784039,"projectId":9127392,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping bring our project to life! With your generous support, our classroom was able to get everything from tape for engineering builds to a gauss meter for magnetic field experiments, and the impact was immediate and exciting. One standout moment came during our circular motion labs, where students used flying pig toys to visualize centripetal force in action—it was such a fun and memorable way to wrap up the year's physics concepts. The dice were also a huge hit in math-based problem-solving activities; letting students roll their own numbers added a layer of unpredictability and fun that kept them engaged.\r\n\r\nWhen students saw all the new materials—especially the tape, coffee straws, and whiteboard erasers—they were thrilled. You'd be surprised how something as simple as having enough erasers can completely change the energy in a classroom. With the tape and coffee straws, students were able to build their own electric cars and launch catapults in engineering challenges, learning through hands-on experience. Moving forward, students will continue using the gauss meter in their independent research projects and we'll keep integrating these tools into our daily lessons.
