While many people use technology and tools at home, in our classroom these materials serve a very intentional purpose. The manipulatives and sensory items help my students better understand concepts by allowing them to learn through hands-on experiences, which is especially important for students with autism. The printer has also become an essential tool, allowing me to create customized visual supports, communication boards, and activities that meet each student's individual needs and learning style.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the opportunity to interact with their learning in a meaningful way. The sensory items help them stay calm, focused, and ready to learn, while the manipulatives turn abstract concepts into something they can see and touch. The printed materials make lessons more visually clear and predictable, which builds confidence and reduces frustration. These tools have helped transform our daily routines into positive, engaging experiences where students feel successful.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students have especially benefited from these resources. One student who previously struggled to stay engaged now actively participates when using manipulatives, while another who needed sensory support to regulate emotions is now able to remain calm and focused for longer periods of time. Additionally, students who rely on visual schedules and communication supports have become more independent thanks to the materials we can now create and use every day. Your support has truly made a lasting impact, helping my students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.","fullyFundedDate":1769523718292,"projectUrl":"project/bright-minds-big-dreams-help-us-shine/9905081/","projectTitle":"Bright Minds, Big Dreams: Help Us Shine","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sweet Bolongaita","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10354095_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1781929011121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10354095"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17347","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":410,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.1,"schoolId":17347,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Davila Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Davila Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/davila-elementary-school/17347"}
