Students have the freedom to choose from a variety of books that match their interests and reading levels. Some prefer to read independently during our quiet reading times, while others enjoy sharing thoughts in small groups or partner discussions. Having the Battle of the Books right in our classroom allows students to explore literature at their own pace without feeling rushed — creating a calm, focused, and joyful reading environment.\r\n\r\nThese new books have especially motivated students who were once hesitant readers. They are proud to take ownership of their reading and often recommend books to one another. Even students who used to struggle with reading have found stories that make them feel successful and excited to turn the next page. With the Battle of the Books now in our room, every student — regardless of ability — has the opportunity to grow, participate, and discover a lifelong love of reading.\r\n\r\nWe are now ready to begin the battle! For many of our students, vinyl records are something their grandparents may have mentioned, but they had never seen or heard them in person. Now, they're able to experience the warmth and richness of analog sound, and it has completely transformed how we talk about music, technology, and history.\r\n\r\nThe excitement is palpable when we place the needle on the record — eyes widen, conversations start, and hands go up to ask how the sound gets from the grooves to the speakers. The record player has become a launchpad for exploring the science of sound, the history of recorded music, and even changes in culture and technology over time.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, has truly connected with this project. He's always loved music, but since we've introduced the record player, he's become our resident DJ. He helps set up the records, reads liner notes to the class, and has even started bringing in albums from home to share with classmates. It's given him a chance to shine and lead in a way that's both meaningful and confidence-boosting.\r\n\r\nThis project has been more than just listening to music — it's been about connecting generations, sparking inquiry, and creating lasting memories. None of this would have been possible without you. Thank you for helping us make history come alive through music.","fullyFundedDate":1743179339922,"projectUrl":"project/spinning-into-the-past-bringing-vinyl-r/9115614/","projectTitle":"Spinning Into the Past: Bringing Vinyl Records to the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tavella","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5621716"},{"teacherId":9828977,"projectId":9149855,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in funding our classroom whiteboard tables!
