The students were shown most of the new choices, but not all as we like to keep some surprise items as well (Squish Mallows). These tools for the students have made their calm down experiences shorter and more productive. The trampoline gives them the physical/sensory input they need to relax their bodies and minds to gain new information. The learning centers allow them to touch and manipulate the learning tools while working independently or in a small group. \r\n\r\nAgain we are very thankful to you, our donors, for choosing our project to fund. We will be using these tools for the rest of the year and many years to come. We are learning about books, book handling and reading. I teach the youngest learners in our school. We read a lot of books in whole groups but also allow children to explore and tell their own stories as they read books during center time. The children love when we are able to change out books to go with a new theme almost as much as they enjoy the familiar favorites that they can recite word for word because they have heard them so much. \r\n\r\nAs a teacher and parent, I know that the books that are read to them increase their vocabulary, encourage a love of reading and affect the ways that they communicate. The books that are chosen also have characters that are diverse and it is so important for students to see themselves in the classroom and in literature. \r\n\r\nBooks can be expensive and hard to maintain with little ones. I could not provide the same variety without your support.
