We encourage students to make good choices, and with the introduction of books that are easier for them to read and engage with, they choose every day to immerse themselves in these stories. The Study Hall period has never been quieter--making for an ideal environment for students to focus on their work, projects, or reading. Each day they enter the classroom, find their book(s) and a comfortable place to sit, and I get to watch them flip through these books eager to find out what happens next.\r\n\r\nIt has helped immensely to have these books available in the classroom. Students interested in sports have picked up the novels about their interests (soccer, basketball, football), and students struggling with their identity have found books they can connect with. Some students have even been inspired to draw the characters they see and read about. This collection of graphic novels will grow and be well-loved for years to come. Because of you, my class has all of the supplies we need to begin the school year. We are not limited (in supplies) by one or two activities, we have enough supplies to conduct various activities and assignments. For instance, notebooks will be provided to each student to complete daily writing prompts. They will be used as logs for writing prompts, notes, and other writing activities.\r\n\r\nThe items that were placed and shipped to my classroom are extremely beneficial to the completing of various assignments and projects. We are thrilled! As a new teacher, I feel more prepared and organized with the new organizer cart, book bins, tubes, and page protectors. I can organize all classroom supplies to ensure accessibility to all students. It was very informative for the students as they learned about the different magnetic capabilities of 3 different sizes of battery. Also how many paper clips could be picked up as well as how well different materials of wire are able to conduct. \r\n\r\n\r\nThe students worked on the electromagnet over a few days. The first day was under duress due to the ability of the wire that was offered but students persevered and kept trying to follow the steps. \r\nThe next day they used a wire that had better abilities for conduction. \r\n\r\nWe have since wrapped up the unit and I'll build you this knowledge for next year.
