Some students were shocked to learn Michael Jordan played baseball. \r\nOne project that is upcoming is a research project about a country. Students have slates, but now they don't have to carry them around. We can do everything right on the table! My favorite thing about using the table is allowing students to write their answers with a marker, checking them, and correcting them before writing final answers on paper. We are saving so many erasers, lol.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for making learning more fun and convenient in our little classroom. I can't wait to find more fun ways to use the table. Printing making is harder than I thought it would be, but look, I finally did it!\" These are just two of the comments my students stated, as we learned about the Gutenberg Printing Press and how this invention gave everyone the chance to learn to read. My students were fascinated by the timeline of how small inventions led to the printing press, and that only wealthy people once had access to books.\r\nFor their first attempt, my students used the LEGO blocks to build the word \"hi.\" They then rolled paint onto their blocks, placed a paper over the top of their word, and then rolled the paper to make the print. They were a little confused at first because their word was backwards. We then discussed what a mirror image is, and the next day, they tried the words \"book\" and \"read.\" This time, they were closer to making the word readable as they tested their designs using a mirror.\r\nWhat I loved about this project was seeing my students' curiosities, creativity, and perseverance in action. Making letters out of LEGOs is a challenge in itself, and then, when they had to create the words backwards, it definitely created some difficulties, but my students laughed, smiled, and helped one another as we completed their projects. \r\nThank you for bringing these amazing learning opportunities to my classroom and allowing my students to learn about history as they help to imagine the future.
