Because of you, my students now have access to flexible seating options like stools and pillows, which have truly changed the way we learn each day.\r\n\r\nWe use these new seating choices during independent work, small group collaboration, and hands-on STEM activities. One moment that stood out was during a recent project where students were working in teams to design solutions to a problem. Instead of being confined to desks, they spread out across the room—some sitting on pillows, others using stools at different tables. I noticed students were more focused, comfortable, and willing to collaborate. It created a calm but productive environment where students could choose what works best for them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new seating, they were beyond excited. There was an immediate buzz in the room, and they couldn't wait to try everything out. More importantly, they quickly began to take ownership of their learning by making thoughtful choices about where they work best.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students are continuing to build independence and self-awareness by selecting seating that helps them stay focused and engaged. We are also incorporating more student-led activities and group work, where this flexible environment allows for greater creativity, movement, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a meaningful difference in our classroom. Not all the kids here realize how cold their ears get even with a hoodie. The ear covering head bands have been so useful. Our kids shoes are not always the best either so we have go through a lot of fresh dry socks. It is amazing how much difference dry warm (if even room tempeture) socks are when kids are sitting in class. \r\n The cold has been so brutal in the mornings that hand warmers have been helping warm up freezing little hands. After waiting at the bus stop or moving from class building to class building these things have been so nice to have around. The snacks, treats, and care packages have brought so much joy — from quick pick-me-ups during study sessions to rewards for teamwork and effort. They've become small but meaningful motivators that help build community and connection among my 6th graders.\r\n\r\nThe practical items you provided — from towels and hoodies to socks, hair ties, and hand warmers — have made a real difference for students who come to school in all kinds of circumstances. For some, these items meet basic needs and allow them to focus on learning without worry or discomfort. The thoughtful addition of first aid and comfort supplies like ice packs and pain relief ensures we can care for students' well-being immediately and compassionately when small injuries or headaches arise during the day.\r\n\r\nThe new storage bins have also helped us keep the classroom better organized, creating a cleaner and calmer space for learning. The addition of these books has already begun transforming how my 6th graders engage with reading, creativity, and science. With the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Player's Handbook, students have discovered a new outlet for imagination, collaboration, and problem-solving. It has encouraged even the most reluctant writers to craft characters, stories, and worlds of their own, while also building teamwork and communication skills during our D&D sessions.\r\n\r\nThe Warrior Cats and Minecraft graphic novel sets have been especially powerful in motivating independent reading. Many students who previously struggled to find joy in books are now eagerly discussing plot twists, character arcs, and moral choices in these series. These books have created a shared culture of reading in our classroom — students trade volumes, recommend favorite moments, and even draw fan art inspired by their favorite scenes. The Sports Illustrated Kids graphic novels have also connected with our athletes, helping them see reading as both relatable and exciting.\r\n\r\nMeanwhile, the science materials — including Cells: An Owner's Handbook, Geology Activity Book for Kids, and our new ecosystem and earth science posters — have strengthened hands-on learning in our STEM lessons. These resources make abstract concepts tangible and help students connect classroom content to the natural world around them. Because of your generosity, our classroom is now a space where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking thrive.
