Having flexible, comfortable seating has allowed us to shift from a more traditional setup to one that encourages collaboration, discussion, and movement. Students can easily work in small groups, turn and talk, and engage more actively with one another. It has truly helped create a classroom environment that feels more student-centered, welcoming, and productive.\r\n\r\nWe use these new resources daily, especially during group activities and project-based learning. One moment that stands out was during a recent collaborative assignment where students analyzed a text and created a group presentation. Because of the table setup, they were able to sit together, share ideas freely, and divide responsibilities in a natural way. I noticed more participation from all students, including those who are typically quieter, because the environment felt more comfortable and inclusive.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new tables and chairs, their excitement was immediate. They commented on how much more comfortable and \"grown up\" the room felt. Several students mentioned that it made them feel like their classroom was a place where their learning really mattered. That sense of ownership and pride has carried over into their daily work and behavior.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build on this collaborative environment with more group-based projects and discussions. Currently, students are working on projects that require teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity, and these new resources make that possible in a much more effective way. The next step is having students take even more ownership of their learning by leading group discussions and presentations. These tables and chairs are not just furniture; they are helping shape a classroom culture where students feel empowered to learn, share, and grow together.","fullyFundedDate":1773440363636,"projectUrl":"project/desks-to-dialogue-building-a-collaborat/10096490/","projectTitle":"Desks to Dialogue: Building a Collaborative ELA Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McKillip","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10434226_orig.jpg?crop=2955,2955,x528,y485&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771001255503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10434226"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78967","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":79,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"7.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":56.7,"schoolId":78967,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Crawford High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Crawford High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nebraska/crawford-school-district-71/crawford-high-school/78967"}
