We started out learning all about snow and ice. Part of our science curriculum discusses blizzards, ice, and erosion. Using the mason jars, pipe cleaners, string, and food coloring, we made ice crystals. Students shaped the pipe cleaner into the shape they wanted, picked a color they wanted their ice crystal, I poured the ice crystal solution into the mason jar, and we watched them grow over several days. Students were amazed it actually grew! Stduents took their ice crystals home to share with families. \r\n\r\nI can't wait to do this year after year using the same jars.
