Our books arrived this week, and the excitement in our classroom was truly contagious. When the box arrived, my students were so curious about what was inside. We gathered around and unpacked the box together, pulling out the books one by one. They were excited to look at the covers, read the back of the books, and talk about which story they thought they would enjoy the most. Watching their excitement over a box of books was such a wonderful reminder of the impact your generosity can have in a classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to beginning our novel studies and using these stories to build important reading skills. My students will practice comprehension, vocabulary, making inferences, using text evidence, analyzing characters and their choices, summarizing, and discussing their ideas with their classmates. More than anything, I hope these books help my students discover that reading a chapter book can be an exciting and rewarding experience.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students something to look forward to and for helping me create meaningful reading experiences in our classroom. They are also a great early finisher activity for my gifted students as a way to challenge themselves beyond the typical worksheet.\r\n\r\nBeyond the fun, these activities foster real problem-solving, collaboration, and perseverance. Each morning, students rotate through choices such as building and problem-solving tasks, and collaborative activities that encourage communication and teamwork. One special moment that stands out was watching a group of students work together to solve a challenge with Kanoodle that they did not solve the day before without being asked, they shared ideas, took turns, and celebrated their success together. I think it is my students' favorite part of our classroom. When my students get upset or are feeling overwhelmed or dis-regulated they go to the Cozy Corner and set the timer for 5 minutes. \r\n\r\nThey love cozying up to the soft pillows, sitting on the puffs, and hugging/loving the weighted dog as they spend time in there. The students draw all kinds of pictures and gift everyone with them using the scented markers. The stress balls and fidgets are fun items for them to hold and manipulate and they turn the rain sticks over to listen to the various weather sounds. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your donation and support! We all appreciate the dimension of learning that this space and these activities add to our school family environment!
