Instead of simply learning about everyday tasks, students are able to practice them through hands-on activities that connect directly to real life.\r\n\r\nOur students are working on functional skills such as following directions, making choices, communicating their needs, completing tasks from start to finish, working with others, managing materials, and developing greater independence. These seemingly small accomplishments are incredibly meaningful for our students and are important steps toward their future goals at home, in the community, and in the workplace.\r\n\r\nThe materials from this project have also helped make learning more engaging and accessible for students with a wide range of abilities. Students are able to learn by doing, repeat skills as needed, and experience the pride that comes from successfully completing a task on their own.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has helped our classroom become a place where students can see themselves as capable and successful. Every time a student completes a task independently, makes a decision, participates in a new experience, or says, \"I can do it myself,\" we are building something much bigger than a classroom skill, we are building confidence and independence for the future.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us create meaningful opportunities for them to learn, grow, and become more independent!","fullyFundedDate":1778010540474,"projectUrl":"project/independence-starts-here-life-skills-fo/10088601/","projectTitle":"Independence Starts Here: Life Skills for Middle School Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9599962_orig.png?crop=146,146,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729986709081","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9599962"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89686","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":977,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":96,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"18.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":54.7,"schoolId":89686,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Corry Area Middle High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Corry Area Middle High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/corry-area-school-district/corry-area-middle-high-school/89686"}
