Since you supported us with your generous contribution, we have expanded our partnership with the Guardians of Flushing Bay and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Just last month our collective efforts were recognized by GrowNYC with a grant that will enable us to plant a small orchard at our school. \r\n\r\nYesterday, we added another new partner to our team, NYC Soil and Water Conservation. The coalition is growing!\r\n\r\nTogether with the 300 students in our Media Arts program we will be planting trees, caring for our city's rain gardens and tree beds, nurturing and connecting our roots, sharing our resources, and eventually harvesting the fruits of our collective labors. There was a lot of love in our room. Many hugs were shared. Students brought grandparents, neighbors, alumni. Younger siblings stood with widening eyes and frozen smiles staring at our wall of wonder and surfing our ever expanding class website. Many mothers thanked me with tears in their eyes. \r\n\r\nIt is no small thing you have done.
