Thanks to you and your donation,I've been able not only create a welcoming and inviting classroom. I've also been able to have students walk in excited and wanting to read with me or on their own. I've seen firsthand the impact something as simple as a comfortable rug, seating, and a good book can do to have children wanting to read consistently and even work on building up those foundational literary skills. Before receiving the headphones, one of the biggest challenges my students faced during testing was the constant background noise and distractions that naturally come from working in a classroom setting with many learners engaged in different tasks at once. Some students would lose focus, others would grow anxious about not being able to concentrate, and many expressed frustration that they could not perform at their best when every small sound in the room pulled their attention away from the test. The donated headphones immediately resolved this issue by providing each student with the ability to work in a quieter, more individualized environment. Students can now listen to directions, passages, or read-alouds during online testing without being distracted or disturbing others, which has significantly improved both their confidence and performance. The headphones have also ensured that all students, regardless of their learning needs, have access to the tools required to demonstrate what they truly know and can do. For example, students who receive accommodations such as text-to-speech are now able to access their supports seamlessly, privately, and with dignity, without feeling singled out or different from their peers. \r\n\r\nBeyond testing, the headphones have also elevated our daily classroom activities in powerful ways. During independent work, students can listen to instructional videos, interactive lessons, and learning apps at their own pace, allowing for more personalized learning experiences that meet each child where they are. This has been especially beneficial in reinforcing skills in reading and math, as students can replay instructions as many times as needed, making them more independent and confident learners. Additionally, the headphones have opened the door for collaborative digital projects, where students can research, record, and create multimedia presentations without the usual classroom noise overwhelming the process. In small group instruction, headphones allow me to work with targeted groups while other students remain deeply engaged in meaningful digital tasks without distraction. Another important impact has been the improvement in classroom management and the overall atmosphere of the room. With students focused on their individual tasks through the use of headphones, the classroom feels calmer, more organized, and more conducive to productive learning. Parents and administrators have noticed this difference as well, often commenting on how much more focused and self-directed students seem during classroom visits. In many ways, the headphones have leveled the playing field for my students, ensuring that everyone has access to the same high-quality learning experiences without being hindered by distractions or limitations. What may seem like a simple classroom tool has actually become a powerful resource for equity, inclusion, and academic success. The generosity of this donation has made a lasting impact, one that will continue to benefit students not only during testing but every single day as they engage in meaningful, focused learning that prepares them for the future.","fullyFundedDate":1747084614599,"projectUrl":"project/tuned-in-using-headphones-to-boost-stu/9312186/","projectTitle":"\"Tuned In: Using Headphones to Boost Student Test Performance\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garza","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10011900"},{"teacherId":3249437,"projectId":8685449,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous contributions, our classroom is better equipped to support focused, productive, and engaging learning! Daily materials are a must for students' academic success. \r\n\r\n We used the materials in our daily math lesson.
