The students and I were so excited the moment we saw the books arriving!\r\n\r\nEven though I am teaching 2nd grade, I have many students reading at a kindergarten level. I didn't have a large variety of targeted decodable books for those students who need that extra support. Many books can be very stressful and discouraging to these students. When the book is too difficult, they don't feel the success and motivation to read. When you are fortunate to have a variety of books that are decodable, students are able to read books that are actually at their level. This is very important to successful teach students to read. \r\n\r\nNow that I have a variety of fun and engaging good-fit books for these striving students, I've already noticed a difference. These students feel amazing that they get to choose books like the others, AND they feel confident that they can successfully (and independently!) read the whole book. \r\n\r\nThese books will allow so many students to work on isolated phonetic skills, build confidence, and (hopefully) become humans that LOVE to read!","fullyFundedDate":1728590471105,"projectUrl":"project/decodable-readers-for-striving-students/8842029/","projectTitle":"Decodable Readers for Striving Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4520780_orig.jpg?crop=1151,1151,x190,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727996750082","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4520780"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88404","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":384,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":42.9,"schoolId":88404,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cooper Mountain Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cooper Mountain Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/beaverton-school-district/cooper-mountain-elementary-school/88404"}
