The students were excited to get the big box of books and declared that we had to do an Instagram-style \"Unboxing\". Each student in my class looked through the box and found something that appealed to them. Students remarked that there was quite a variety from non-fiction to graphic novels, romance to science fiction. \r\n\r\nStudents picked a couple of books and then read the backs and described to partners what the books were about. This was to pique interest and it worked! Already a couple of students have chosen some of the new books for their Friday free reads. \r\n\r\nFirst hand I have seen that the students in my class who are the avid readers have a more sophisticated vocabulary. I am hoping these new and popular books will encourage more students to pick one up and read! I also appreciate the diversity of choices!\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you very much. Our German Club in particular loves to cook and the Raclette is a appliance that we really don't have in the US. Students are excited to see how it works and to try something new! That is scheduled for one of our December meetings. From experience, I can tell you the students will love it! It is fun to melt the cheese and pour it over potatoes and pickles and to grill some chicken! \r\n\r\nAlready, students have been picking up the books and trying to understand them. Even some of my English students have looked to see if they can understand the stories. Maybe I will gain a few new German students because of this! I appreciate that the books are leveled so that students can find the level that is appropriate for them. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your support and thank you again.
