Every returning Battle of the Books team member has already checked out at least one book, allowing students to read ahead and discover new stories before our regular practices have even started. The books are also available to other students in our school of approximately 700 students, extending the impact of your donation beyond the competition teams.\r\n\r\nThese books are doing much more than helping students prepare for a competition. They give students opportunities to explore different genres, authors, characters, and perspectives while building reading stamina, comprehension, vocabulary, and the ability to remember and discuss details from a text. Students have been especially excited about Restart, Two Tribes, Amari and the Night Brothers, and Wish. It has been wonderful to see students excited to choose their next book, share their thoughts with friends, and encourage one another to keep reading.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a community of readers before our Battle of the Books season has even officially begun.
