These simple writing experiences helped students become more comfortable communicating their emotions while strengthening their writing skills at the same time.\r\nThe journals also became an important part of our weekly girls' group, where students explored self-care, self-worth, kindness, confidence, and healthy ways to manage emotions. Having a personal journal allowed each girl to connect these conversations to their own experiences and growth.\r\nI was glad to see students become more confident in expressing themselves, more aware of their emotions, and more willing to celebrate what makes them unique. These resources have provided our students with a hands-on and inclusive way to explore letters, numbers, communication, and early literacy skills. When the materials arrived, the students were eager to touch, examine, and interact with the different tiles. Some students were especially interested in feeling the raised Braille markings and matching the letters and numbers to familiar symbols.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the tiles during small-group instruction and one-on-one activities. One specific classroom activity has been having students select a letter or number, identify it using visual, tactile, or sign language supports, and then match it to a corresponding classroom item or picture. The materials have also encouraged students to practice making choices and communicating their responses in ways that are accessible to them.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building letter and number recognition while incorporating the tiles into daily literacy and math routines. We will also use them to reinforce sign language and tactile learning, giving students repeated opportunities to practice communication and academic skills. These resources are helping make learning more interactive, meaningful, and accessible for every student in our classroom.
