The desktop whiteboards provided a multi-faceted impact for freshmen to start this school year. Not only are they learning group skills, but the engagement allowed students to find their voices and capture their thoughts on the whiteboards. Writing and speaking skills are being developed through using the whiteboards. They also got a chance to present their group's thoughts, so respect for others' opinions was another impact with this project. \r\n\r\nStudents are learning to value what they are given. It was such a joy watching them select a recorder to write responses on the whiteboards while another student held the whiteboard as the group's reporter presented the discussion with the whole group. And I did not have to remind students to erase their whiteboards at the end of my lesson. Most of them also returned the markers to their plastic holders and placed the erasers back on the whiteboards in their groups.","fullyFundedDate":1777997203527,"projectUrl":"project/starting-fresh-with-a-board-of-thoughts/10259601/","projectTitle":"Starting Fresh with a Board of Thoughts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McGuire","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7115430_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1784653036123","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/calmformcguire"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125520","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":356,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":63,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":125520,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Compass Community School - Midtown on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Compass Community School - Midtown","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/memphis-shelby-county-schools/compass-community-school-midtown/125520"}
