Students who were once hesitant to speak up are finding their voices—literally—and taking immense pride in hearing how polished their work sounds.\r\n\r\nThe MacBook has become the ultimate creation station for our room. Its processing speed allows students to run industry-standard editing software without lag or crashes, teaching them practical, real-world digital skills in audio engineering and media editing.\r\nHaving professional-grade technology shows our students that their ideas matter and deserve to be shared with the world. Working in small production teams, they are learning project management, public speaking, scriptwriting, and technical troubleshooting.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding moments so far was watching a team of students listen back to their first fully edited audio project through the new setup. Every session, students rotate through real job roles: prepping ingredients, assembling sandwiches, packing hygiene and care kits, labeling, and cleaning up. The supplies you funded are used at every step.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was watching students take ownership of this internship and demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills. Students are practicing skills they'll use on any job, including following directions, working safely, managing time, communicating with teammates, and taking pride in quality work. They also see that their effort goes to someone who needs it.\r\n\r\nWe'll keep the internship going this year, and students will take on more responsibility as their skills grow. Next, they'll track how many meals and kits they've made, learn to plan and budget a batch, reflect on their work in a journal or resume-building activity. We also plan to deliver the kits ourselves / partner with a local shelter or organization so students can see the impact of their work firsthand.
